These are the practice policies families ask about most. Our formal notices — privacy practices, financial policy, adolescent privacy — are in the documents on this page.
Appointments
Arriving late
We make an effort to be on time for every appointment, and one late arrival affects everyone booked after it. Patients arriving more than fifteen minutes after their scheduled time will be asked to reschedule.
Missed appointments
We understand schedules are hectic. But a missed appointment is a slot another family could have used, so we ask for at least three hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.
A no-show without sufficient notice is charged a $25 fee. Repeated no-shows may result in dismissal from the practice.
Who we can speak to
To keep an accurate family history and protect your child’s privacy, our staff will ask anyone bringing a child in — or calling about one — to identify their relationship to the patient: mom, dad, stepparent, guardian, whichever applies.
We won’t release information about a child to anyone other than a parent or guardian. If that occasionally feels officious, it’s the reason.
Traveling and out-of-area calls
If you’re travelling out of the country we’re happy to help during normal business hours, though there’s a limit to what we can do from here. Be aware that for calls we return outside our area, you may be held financially responsible.
Laboratory testing and your insurance
Lab tests, x-rays and other testing ordered by your physician may or may not be covered, and coverage varies by plan and diagnosis. Deductibles or co-insurance may apply even when your own doctor ordered the test.
Tests requested by third parties — school, daycare, employer, court, other insurers, the military — are not covered by your insurer, and you’ll be responsible for payment. Check your subscriber certificate or ask your carrier directly.
